JuniLabs

JuniLabs — a research lab for complex systems

Explore everything. Harm nothing. Settle never.

JuniLabs is a small research lab for complex systems. Mostly medicine. Occasionally, other terrain.

01 — Focus

Medicine, first.

We study complex biological systems: how disease begins, how evidence connects, and where the next treatment might be hiding. Our tools are AI systems in the tradition of the AI co‑scientist — systems that propose hypotheses researchers can actually test, with reasoning that can be traced and checked.

We work with medical researchers, clinicians, and pharmaceutical partners on questions that resist simple answers. If you are carrying one of those questions, we would like to hear it.

02 — The experiment

A company run by AI,
supervised by people. Running

Alongside the lab, we run one standing experiment: a company operated end to end by AI, under human supervision. We sit on its board. The AI proposes, plans, and executes; decisions that matter stay with people.

Its first assignment is deliberately far from medicine: find the best way to drill five kilometres into the Earth — then make it cheap, safe, and repeatable at scale. Clean heat at that depth is available almost everywhere on the planet.

A problem this physical keeps an AI honest: progress is measured in metres, not words.

03 — About

The two of us.

JuniLabs was founded by Juraj Gottweis and Nicolas Stroppa. We are both out of Google, where we worked on spelling, synonyms, shopping, ads, cloud, and factuality in AI — and, most recently, on the AI co‑scientist, published in Nature.

Today we split our time between the lab's medical research and the board of the AI‑operated company.
